About

CollarFree.com’s goal is to create a brand that sells t-shirts, designed by their website’s design community, to their website’s sales community.

Traditionally, we would attack this problem by creating two websites, one for designers, and one for sales. However with the projects budgetary constraints, as well as the need to cross-reference data, we will instead be focusing on:

1. Implement a strong e-commerce platform (ASPdotnetstorefront) as the underlying architecture for the site.
2. Create a simple back-end to control the promotional elements of the site.
3. Create modular components which address the needs of designer side of the site, that we can easily “place on top of” the e-commerce platform.
4. Create cross-navigation between the promotional elements and the e-commerce platform to enhance the possibilities of impulse shopping.

Overall objectives for the site are to create:

1. A clean look and feel that appeals to designers and shoppers alike.
2. A modular and scalable structure that can be enhanced over time.
3. A design that adapts equally well between the e-commerce and the promotional aspects of the site.

By building the CollarFree website’s promotional elements as components, we achieve several goals. First, we reduce the overall required budget by not having to build a separate website for the designers. Second we achieve the ability to be modular and scalable to enhance the functionality of the site over time. And finally, we can create a cleaner and more adaptive site architecture that will allow us to add features rapidly in the future.

Initially, in this phase of development, our primary objective will be to get the website operational on a core level, iron out any functionality issues, and identify the concepts that work well with the site’s users, allowing us to enhance these features in future phases. By approaching development along these guidelines, we will be able to move forward into future development knowing that we have a strong foundation to work from.
